PHOTO-ETCHING
|
Photo-etching is a
process involving the transfer of a photographic image
onto a special film, using a photocopier. The toner on
the film is transferred onto a sheet of metal by
burnishing on a hot-plate. The metal is then acid
etched with the transferred toner acting as a resist. A
patina is applied to the etched metal to further enhance
the graphic image. Sometimes the image is etched in
reverse on a plate that can be used as an embossment
plate to create multiple images using a rolling mill
….kind of like "printing" into metal |
